What Is Article Marketing?
Article marketing has a valid role as part of your Web marketing strategy. Once you've taken care of all the basics, though article marketing is a way to gain further exposure for your site across the Internet. The increased links to your site--often from very high-ranked sites--will help search engine results.
I use article marketing to promote my own site--in fact, this Newsletter will also be submitted as an article--and I offer it to my clients as part of my services.
This Newsletter describes article marketing and how to go about it.
How To Do It
There are a number of article sites on the Internet that solicit informative articles. They are offered to other sites, with the understanding that the article can be republished provided that full credit is given for the article, and the provided link to the sponsoring site is included.
Article marketing can be a good way to reuse other materials. If you have pages on your Web site that look like articles, rewrite them a bit and use them for article marketing. If you have general information that might be of broad interest in your newsletters, go ahead and use your newsletters for article marketing. This Newsletter will also be submitted as an article!
So you write an informative article about a topic that's relevant to the purpose of your site and you submit it to a number of these article Web sites. there are also a number of other article distribution mechanisms available on the Web. Fortunately, you don't have to learn about them all and learn to submit to each one; you can also use an article submission service. There is software that runs on your PC and distributes from there, and there are by-the-month services that will distribute for you. Which is best? It really depends on how you operate and your own preferences.
To start, just do a Google search on "article marketing" and you'll find a lot of prospective services and software products. Try a few until you find one that you're comfortable with.
The best services distribute not just an article but a number of variations on your article, so that there are many distinct articles. Some packages substitute words to get the variations and others require you to submit alternative sentences or paragraphs, and then plug in the alternatives to build the variations. The latter approach is more work but provides better alternative articles.
The Bottom Line
If your site is well-focused on its main topics, the meta tags have been tailored and you've worked your word distributions, and you have a reasonable reciprocal link campaign going, consider article marketing.
